چکیده

Introduction Gingival crevicular fluid is exuded from the surrounding tissue of periodontal pockets in response to the pathogenic process in periodontitis. Gingival crevicular fluid contains microbial plaque, host inflammatory cells, host tissue and serumderived factors. As periodontal disease progresses, the volume of GCF increases and inflammatory cytokines appear in the GCF. GCF can be easily and non-invasively collected using dental paper points, so that it has been studied for clinical examinations. In particular, periodontal disease is considered to be one of the complications of diabetes mellitus (DM). Periodontitis is a chronic infectious disease affecting the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth, caused by gram-negative bacteria in dental plaque. It is well established that patients with DM have at least a 2-fold increase in the risk of periodontal disease compared with non-diabetic subjects. Epidemiological studies have reported an association between periodontal disease and dyslipidemic conditions. Based on these we can hypothesize that Gingival crevicular fluid is a potentially a good substrate from which to estimate both the conditions of local gingival tissues and the systemic status.

Background: Receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand (RANKL) is one of the key cytokines in the induction of osteoclastogenesis both in vitro and in vivo.Several reports indicated the presence of sRANKL in gingival crevicular fluid of patients with periodontal diseases. Objective: To determine the presence of RANKL in peri-implant crevicular fluid samples of implants with peri-implan...

The HPLC assay of concentration of azithromycin from two different manufacturers in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF)

Background: Azithromycin (AZM) is used in periodontal infections. The present study compared gingival crevicular fluid concentration of azithromycin of two pharmaceutical companies through the HPLC method. Methods: Two groups (n=15) of healthy volunteers participated in this study. The first group received an imported azithromycin (ImAZM) tablet (250 mg, PO) and the second group received an ...

Systemic Diabetic Context-Induced Biochemical Periodontal Alterations in Children

Our studies aimed the eventual correlations of chemokines and interleukins levels (IFN-γ, IL-10, IL-2, IL-4, IL-5 and TNF-α) in serum and gingival crevicular fluid of patients with periodontitis and juvenile insulindependent diabetes mellitus as compared to periodontal healthy subjects (32 vs. 24 children and adolescents, respectively). The diabetic body interferences with microbiological micro...

Effects of Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy on Gingival Crevicular Fluid Levels of Interleukin-17 and Interleukin-23 in Patients with Periodontitis: A Clinical Trial

Background and Aim: Considering the critical role of inflammatory responses in periodontal disease, knowledge about the immune system and cytokines seems nec-essary. The aim of this study was to evaluate the level of IL-23 and IL-17 in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) of patients with chronic and aggressive periodontitis, before and after non-surgical periodontal therapy. Materials and Methods:...
